Potential songs include a seven-minute epic titled “The Slot Tech”, “Runaways” and “The Rising Tide.” Mark Stoermer: “There’s stuff that’s promising. I think that … what we’re doing right now makes me think if we do it right, it’ll be a record that’s the best of what we do. It’s going to have a little ofSam’s Town, a little of Hot Fuss and a little of Day & Age, but still be moving forward. I think everyone’s on the right page that they want to make the defining record. We’re at that point in our career where we need to make our best record. Every record you make, you want it to be your best. But I think at our age - as a band and as people - we should be at our peak. We need to make a record to reflect that, and in concept, everyone’s on the same page and hopefully, we’ll be able to do that.” Ronnie Vannucci: “We want to make the best record ever with this one. Everybody’s in that mind set of really focusing and putting the hammer down to make it happen.” “We have some people in mind, but I don’t want to piss people off and say who it is. All last month we’ve been writing some great Killers songs, it’s really happening. I’m really looking forward to doing this next record, it’s going to sound f***ing great.”
